Jonathan Starke

Jonathan Starke holds a Bachelor of Economics and a Bachelor of Laws degrees from the
Australian National University, Canberra, and he completed his Practical Legal Training
course at the College of Law in Sydney.

He was admitted as a solicitor of the Supreme Court of New South Wales in February 1977
and is registered as a legal practitioner with the High Court of Australia. He is also on the
Roll of Barristers and Solicitors of the Supreme Court of the Australian Capital Territory.
Jonathan gained exposure to many areas of law as a result of initially practising as a general
practitioner in small law firms in the country and suburbs, and then performing more
specialised roles with larger Sydney law firms, such as the NSW Crown Solicitors Office
where he conducted both litigious and non-litigious matters on behalf of the State
Government, and Colin Biggers & Paisley where he conducted building and construction
litigation and commercial law matters.

For many years, Jonathan has been principal of Starke Lawyers on Sydney’s Northern
Beaches, practising in various areas of law including:

• Conveyancing and Property Law
• Commercial and Retail Leases
• Purchase and Sale of Businesses
• Wills and Estates
• Family Law
• Building Contracts and Disputes

Jonathan has also volunteered as a panel lawyer at a local community legal centre. Outside of
the office, Jonathan enjoys travelling, bush and beach walks and spending time with his
family.
