Our client was pulled over by police in the early hours of the morning after attending a company event. A roadside breath test showed a blood alcohol concentration of 0.135—well over the legal limit. He was charged with a mid-range drink driving offence and faced the real possibility of a conviction and a lengthy disqualification period.
He had no prior criminal or traffic history and held a professional job that required a clean record and regular interstate travel. We worked closely with the client to gather compelling character references from his employer and family, as well as a psychologist’s report that addressed the underlying stressors contributing to the offence.
The Magistrate was persuaded that this was an isolated incident and that the client had shown significant insight and remorse. No conviction was recorded, a modest fine was imposed, and he received the minimum mandatory licence disqualification.
