A 41-year-old female engaged EAS Legal after being charged with driving whilst disqualified and using an unregistered vehicle, with a relevant history of previous driving offending.
Given her record, the sentencing risks were significant. We undertook detailed preparation addressing the circumstances surrounding the offending, the progress our client had made since the incident and the practical steps she had taken to prevent further offending.
Our submissions focused on rehabilitation and why punishment in the community remained appropriate despite her history.
The Court was persuaded not to impose full-time imprisonment, allowing our client to remain in the community and continue rebuilding her life.
